Here's what we planned:

Unlimited beach dives, 3-boat dives/day, guided night dives, diving at neighboring islands of Mabul and Kapalai

  Accommodations were Rustic and basic beachfront chalets with twin beds, bedding and towels, ceiling fan, electric lights and outlets (220V)

Here's what the itinerary looked like:

Left Los Angeles Oct 3rd or 4th early in the morning arriving in Kota Kinabalu Oct 4th

1 night stay at the Shangri-La hotel in Kota Kinabalu

Oct 5th transfer to Tawau for boat to Sipadan Island

3 Nights on Sipadan Island Resort then off to Kapalai for 3 Nights

We added 1 night at the Sepilok Nature Reserve to observe Orangutans

Oct 12 Transfer back to Tawau and on to Kota Kinabalu

Stayed 2 nights in Kota Kinabalu – 1 day for touring the city

Checked out of Shangri-La Oct 14 to fly to Los Angeles
